Lesley Ewoniak, BSc'02, and Kevin Grover, BSc'02

At first, I thought my husband was nothing short of an idiot.

My first recollection of him was at 4th year U of C Geomatics field camp in Kananaskis. He and a few others decided to bike down the mountain at full speed, and Kevin (my now wonderful husband) went flying off his bike and got a lovely case of road rash. I cleaned it up for him and sent him on his way. I never even thought twice about him at that time, however, that could have been since I was engaged to be married to someone else.

As our final year progressed Kevin and I became good friends. We had the same group of friends and were lab partners.

Due to the stresses of a long distance relationship and different life goals I decided to end my engagement. It was a very difficult time for me however I was lucky to have the support of my U of C friends, especially Kevin. He was there for me whenever I needed him and gave me the strength to carry on.

Upon graduation I was moving back to my home town of Edmonton, Kevin found a job in Edmonton as well and we decided to become roommates... well the rest is history.

Kevin and I will be married 12 years this April, and I have to say it has been the best 12 years of my life. We now have a daughter and son, Taylor who was born in 2009 and Cale who was born in 2011.  I think we will stop there, otherwise they will outnumber us!

Just goes to show, first impressions aren't always correct.
